Catch up on news relevant to you as an accounting or bookkeeping professional, including a restaurant management software company's latest funding round, a payroll provider that has added both COVID-19 vaccination and test result tracking, and a payables automation company that is expanding in Texas.

MarginEdge, a restaurant management software company, raises $18 million in Series B funding. The six-year-old launched their app in 2018. The app integrates with a variety of accounting software, including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, Microsoft Dynamics and others. The app works with a restaurant's point of sale to streamline inventory, cost-tracking, ordering and recipes by eliminating paperwork. Each document at the restaurant is captured with a mobile app and can then be discarded. MarginEdge turns the pictures into item-level details, updating inventory and recipe prices for virtually real-time tracking. Invoice and sales data flows automatically from MarginEdge to the GL.

ADP's Return to Workplace app now includes the ability to track weekly COVID-19 test results in addition to tracking vaccine status. This news followed quickly on the heels of the President's recent directive to OSHA to develop a new emergency temporary standard (ETS) that would require all employers over 100 employees to ensure employees are either vaccinated or can demonstrate negative COVID tests weekly. ADP's mobile Return to Workplace solution includes surveys, vaccine status surveys, health attestations, and contract tracing capabilities.

Tipalti, a global payables automation company, has announced that it will be opening new offices in Plano Texas in November. This follows news from July that the company is planning to expand by 200 additional employees in 2021. Tipalti is actively recruiting for the Plano office and expects the office to employ 100 people by the end of 2022. Tipalti employees currently work at offices in California, Israel, and Canada as well as remotely.
