Avalara Inc., a leading provider of tax compliance automation for businesses of all sizes, has announced that it has been acquired for $93.50 per share in cash by Vista Equity Partners ("Vista"), a leading global investment firm focused exclusively on enterprise software, data, and technology-enabled businesses, in partnership with institutional co-investors. There have been some changes at Intuit, specifically in its Accountant Segment Leadership team. Jeremy Sulzmann, vice president and general manager, will lead the team responsible for driving product strategy, improvements, and innovations for both accounting professionals and developers across the globe. While Ted Callahan, director, will continue to work with the accountant community as part of Jeremy's Partner Segment Leadership team. Jessica McCracken returns to Intuit as engagement leader. and will organize Intuit's new QuickBooks Partner Council. Read more
A message appeared over the weekend on the QuickBooks Connect website, letting folks know that the event has reached capacity and is now sold out. If you don't have your ticket yet, you can sign up for the waiting list. Some new speakers were also added to the main stage lineup, including Simon Sinek and Malcolm Gladwell.
Following an announcement by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) acknowledging concerns about third-party vendors promoting improper Employee Retention Credit (ERC) claims, the American Institute of CPAs praised the IRS announcement and new reporting process as a positive step. The form, Form 3949-A, Information Referral, will allow individuals, firms, and CPAs to report questionable ERC mills anonymously. The form was previously used to anonymously report fraud, but it has now been designated to report ERC fraud as well. Read more
